PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gem of mixed cut having the characteristics of both step cut and brilliant cut types. SOLUTION: A square gem 10 of mixed cut having a cut corner part has the crown 12 of a step cut 1 having two steps 18 and a table 24, a girdle 14 and a pavilion 16. The crown 12 and the pavilion 16 are substantially of a square shape having four equal side parts and the corner part of a length about 1/3 the side. The side parts of the pavilion 16 and the corner part are specified by eight rib lines 34 substantially continuously extending toward a cullet 36 from the girdle 14. Each of the side parts of the pavilion 16 and the corner part 32 have four facets, including a lower girdle star 40 facet, two lower girdle 40 facets and a lower bezel 44 facet. The gem 10 has a classic elegance of the step cut in the crown 12 and a realized good dispersion of brilliant cut in the pavilion 16.
