PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metallic fine particle-titania composite body in which impurities such as a reducing agent, a stabilizing agent are not contained, and post-processing such as film formation onto a substrate can easily be executed. SOLUTION: In this method for producing a metallic fine particle-titania composite body, titanium alkoxide is hydrolyzed by using acidic water to produce a titania sol, which is added with an aq. soln. of metallic salt, this mixed soln. is irradiated with light, after that, a supernatant liq. is taken out from the mixed soln., and by utilizing the light reduction of metallic ions in which the supernatant liq. is again irradiated with light, the metallic fine particles are dispersed into the group of the titania particles. The metallic fine particle- titania composite body 1 composed of the metallic fine particles 2 and the titania particles 3 is stably present in the solvent 4.
