PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain satisfactory level of dispersion, time needed for dispersion and dispersion stability by using not less than two kinds of anionic group- containing organic polymer compounds having different weight average molecular weight as anionic group-containing organic polymer compounds. SOLUTION: A pigment is preferably coated with anionic group-containing organic polymer compounds the difference in molecular weight between each of which is 5,000-45,000. A mixture comprising at least the pigment, an anionic group-containing organic polymer compound having smallest weight average molecular weight among not less than two kinds of anionic group-containing organic polymer compounds having different weight average molecular weight, a basic material and water is dispersed by a dispersion apparatus, and to the dispersed materials is added an anionic group-containing organic polymer compound having larger weight average molecular weight followed by being dispersed by the dispersion apparatus. The above mixture can be a mixture which contains a water-soluble organic solvent.
