PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backing metal fixture of an H-shaped steel which does not require a separate piece at a low machining cost. SOLUTION: In this backing metal fixture, a U-shaped hole 1b is punched, leaving a portion for a root gap at a center part in longitudinal direction of a strip backing metal fixture source plate 1, and both side portions of the U-shaped hole 1b is bent downwards in an arc shape to form a round part 1a. In this case, a wall on the root gap side of a narrow width bridge part at the center of the backing tool 1 is an inclination face 1c inclined to the inside towards below.
