PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrolytic apparatus suitable for hydrolyzing an alkylene carbonate and producing an alkylene glycol. SOLUTION: This hydrolytic apparatus is a tower type hydrolytic apparatus obtained by installing an introduction port 2 for an aqueous solution containing an alkylene carbonate and fed to hydrolysis in the upper part thereof and a takeout port 4 for an aqueous solution of an alkylene glycol produced by the hydrolysis in the lower part thereof. The space therebetween is divided into >=3 chambers 6 in the vertical direction with horizontal partition walls 5 and each chamber 6 is provided with a communicating means for making the vapor phase part communicate with other chambers 6. Each partition wall 5 is provided with a means 9 capable of making a solution flow down and containing a through-hole 7 in order to make the solution on the partition wall 5 flow down to the chamber 6 just thereunder.
