PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing menstrual anomaly capable of reducing adverse effects of an antiestrogen agent to the utmost by using the antiestrogen agent as an active ingredient and adopting a design so as to administer the composition according to a specific usage. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition is obtained by using an antiestrogen agent e.g. (6-hydroxy-2-cyclohexylbenzo[b]thien-3-yl)[4-[2- piperidinyl)ethoxy]phenyl]methane hydrochloride} as an active ingredient and is administered for consecutive 5-13 days, preferably only 7-9 days during the period of time from the menstrual period of the menstrual cycle to the time just before the ovulation. The time of starting the administration is preferably the 3-5th days after the commencement of menstruation of each menstrual cycle. The time of completing the administration is preferably the 9-11th days after the commencement of the menstruation of each menstrual cycle. When the pharmaceutical preparation is in a solid or a semisolid form, the antiestrogen agent is preferably contained in an amount of 0.1-50 wt.%. When the pharmaceutical preparation is in a liquid form, the agent is preferably contained in an amount of 0.05-10 wt.%. The daily dose thereof is preferably 30-600 mg.
