PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for medical information, which makes it possible to send precise biological information to a medical institution without attaching it on a patient's body all the time. SOLUTION: A patient carries portable terminals T1, T2, and T3 as a medical communication device. This portable terminal T1 (T2 and T3 have the same structures as T1) has an electrode E for detecting the wave of electrocardiogram. When the patient feels uneasy such as a palpitation of the heart, by placing the electrode E of the portable terminal T1 on the chest (near the upper part of the heart), the wave of electrocardiogram is detected. At the portable terminal T1, this detection signal is judged whether it meets a required condition, and the detection signal that meets the required condition is extracted. The extracted detection signal is transmitted from the portable terminal T1 to a center device 4 at a medical institution through a public line network (or exclusive line). At the center device 4, a medical diagnosis is done according to the transmitted detection signal. The result of this diagnosis is sent back to the transmitter, i.e., the portable terminal T1. Consequently, the patient is able to know the result of the diagnosis.
