PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a limp-home mode control limiting the operating range of an engine to prevent an engine failure when a fuel pressure detecting means for detecting the fuel pressure in an accumulator is judged to be out of order. SOLUTION: Fuel pressurized by a fuel pump 1 is stored in a first accumulator 3 and supplied to fuel injection nozzles 9 through a first control valve 5, a fuel passage 10a, and is supplied to a second accumulator 4 and stored in it. The fuel pressure in the second accumulator 4 is controlled by a second control valve 34. When a first fuel pressure detecting means 3a for detecting the fuel pressure in the first accumulator 3 fails, or when a second fuel pressure detecting means 4a for detecting the fuel pressure in the second accumulator 4 fails, a control means 8 stops high pressure-low pressure switching injection to close the second control valve 34, and to keep the pressure of a fuel system at the same level, and performs proper control by a limp-home mode for injecting fuel at an allowable pressure in the second accumulator 4. |
