PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the appearance by providing an electroluminescence element having a transparent electrode, a light emitting layer and a back plate, which are formed on the rear surface side of a translucent substrate. SOLUTION: A mirror 15 comprises a glass substrate 18 (translucent substrate) and a reflecting layer 19 formed on the back surface side of the glass substrate 18. The reflecting layer 19 consists of a metal layer such as aluminum, and the backward scene of a vehicle is reflected by the reflecting layer 19 of the mirror 15, so that a driver visually can confirm other vehicles running in the rear. The mirror 15 has an electroluminescence element 20, and the time is displayed by the electroluminescence element 20. The electroluminescence element 20 consists of a transparent electrode 21, an insulating layer 22, a light emitting layer 23 and the reflecting layer 19, which are formed on the glass substrate 18. The reflecting layer 19 is also formed on the back surface side of the light emitting layer 23 to act as the back plate of the electroluminescence element 20.
