PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core for a sandwich panel whose strength can be improved and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: This core for a sandwich panel SP is of such a structure that its sectional area connecting one surface plate 101 to the other surface plate 102 is increased by a reinforcing piece 12 formed monolithically with a cylindrical base part 11 and thereby the strength of a sandwich panel SP is upgraded. In addition, when the cylindrical base part 11 is molded from a core material using a frictional member (an elastic support part) and a pressurizing roller, a projecting stepped part and a different hardness part provided on the frictional member enable the reinforcing piece 12 to be integrally molded on the cylindrical base part 11.
