919,961. Defrosting. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Dec. 21, 1961 [Dec. 23, 1960], No. 45860/61. Class 29. A defrosting device, particularly for compressor type refrigerators, comprises a defrosting heater contained within a thin-walled tube of small mass, over which is wound a smaller diameter tube which forms part of the refrigeration circuit just upstream of an evaporator. As shown, an electric heater 3 of tubular form, having electrical supply leads 4, is removably fitted into a thin-walled support tube 2 which is attached to the rear wall of the refrigerator cabinet (not shown) by means of a lug 5. A capillary tube 1 connecting the condenser and the evaporator (not shown) of the refrigeration circuit is wound round the tube 2 in helical fashion, and is held in good thermal contact therewith, e.g. by soldering. The section of the capillary tube nearer to the condenser is preferably in thermal contact with a suction tube 6 leading to the compressor inlet. In a refrigerator having a deep freeze evaporator in series with a main compartment evaporator, the heater and receiving tube may be located within a helical coil-forming part of a connecting-tube between the two evaporators (Fig. 2, not shown). |
