PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an insect repellent for clothing, exhibiting not only excellent effects against insect pests for the clothing, such as Tineola bisselliella, but also immediate effects and residual effects, and not giving adverse effects, such as bad odors or discoloration, to the clothing, by adding a specific cyclopropane carboxylate as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This insect repellent for clothing contains 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4- methoxybenzyl 3-(2-chloro-2-fluorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylate as an active ingredient. The insect repellent is used in various kinds of receiving boxes, such as the Japanese chests of drawers, bureaux and the chests of drawers, used for receiving and storing the clothing. The agent may be held on a sheet-like substrate, such as a non-woven fabric, by a coating method, etc., and then used in the held state. The agent is usually used in an amount of 10 mg/m2 to 100 g/m2 as the compound.
