PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly contract a steering column at secondary collision time of a driver against a steering wheel. SOLUTION: A thin thickness part 34 is formed in each angular part 30A of a protrusion part 30 set up in an operating range of a shift lever in a column cover. Accordingly, in the case that the protrusion part 30 interferes with an instrument panel at secondary collision time of a driver, the protrusion part 30 is broken (crack) from the angular part 30A. In this way, the protrusion part eliminates impeding of movement of a steering column to almost a vehicle forward side, so that the steering column can be properly contracted. |
