PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To absorb shock of falling stone by opening slits formed on a flat plate made of metal material constituting a falling stone preventing member disposed between supports to thereby deform the plate when a falling stone strikes the same. SOLUTION: Supports 2 made of H steel member are erected on a foundation 1 at a specified interval, and falling stone receiving plates 3 made of steel plate or the like are disposed between the supports 2. Slits 4 are almost evenly formed across the whole surface therebetween. Such a falling stone protection facility is layed on a slant lower part of natural ground. When a floating stone becomes a falling stone and strikes the plate 3 of the facility, each slit 4 opens to have a large opening due to the striking energy, and the plate 3 elongates and deforms to a large extent to the striking direction. Owing to the deformation of the plate 3, the energy of falling stone applied thereto is absorbed to weeken the shock against the supports 2, thereby preventing damage thereof.
