PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel flame retardant resin composition without any problem on inclusion of halogen elements, which are excellent in flame retardance, mechanical properties, molding processability and the like and, in addition, difficult to cause drips. SOLUTION: This flame retardant resin compositions comprises (A) 100 pts.wt. at least one thermoplastic resin selected from a polycarbonate based resin, a polyphenylene ether based resin, a polyester based resin and a polystyrene based resin, (B) 0.01-50 pts.wt. thermotropic liquid crystal polyester, and (C) 1-30 pts.wt. at least one halogen element-free organic phosphorous compound selected from a phosphine compound, a phosphine oxide compound, a phosphate ester compound, and a condensation phosphate ester compound all of which do not contain any halogen element, and the heat deformation temperature of the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester (B) is higher than that of the thermoplastic resin by 10-100 deg.C.
