A vending machine includes a housing (14) forming a storage chamber (16); at least one shelf (18) is engaged in the chamber (16) by the housing (14), the at least one shelf (18) including a plurality of first conveying implements (20); a controllably movable carrier (22) for moving up and down and sideways within the chamber (16) in front of the at least one shelf (18), the controllably movable carrier (22) including a plurality of second conveying implements (24); a mechanism (26) for co-operating with at least one of the plurality of first conveying implements (20) and at least one of the plurality of second conveying implements (24), so as to convey at least one of the vendible items (12) from one of the at least one shelf (18) onto the controllably movable carrier (22). |
