A castor for use on a supermarket trolley or the like comprising a wheel (10) mounted for rotation on a castor frame (11) the frame having means (12) for swivelling attachment to a trolley (13) or the like thus to swivel on bearings (14) about a generally vertical axis. The bearings (14) include at least one profiled bearing track (17a, 21a) providing resistance to swivel of the castor frame (11) to at least an angular region on each side of a centre line (32) on which the castor rides in a straight forwards direction. The resistance to swivel renders the castor more easily steerable whilst permitting it to operate freely in a sideways or rearwards direction but without the need for the trolley to rise and fall with respect to the castor. |
