PURPOSE:To enable speaking immediately when the hand set of a slave unit is picked up from a waster unit at the time of on-hook dialing at the cordless telephone set. CONSTITUTION:When an on-hook key 11 is operated for performing on-hook dial call origination, a signal based on the detected result is outputted from a key detecting means 161 and based on that output signal, a radio control means 164 drives a radio part 6 and transmits a radio wave from an antenna 7 to a hand set 2. When it is detected by the radio part 6 that the radio wave from a master unit 1 is received at the hand set 2 and a response signal is returned from the slave unit 2, the master unit 1 and the slave unit 2 are connected by radio. Therefore, when the slave unit 2 is picked up from the master unit 1, speaking is immediately enabled.
