摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a liq. crystal oriented film for orienting a liq. crystal molecule to be used in a liq. crystal display element, having a part with the pretilt angle of the liq. crystal moleculae changed by irradiating the oriented film surface with light by incorporating a polymer having a specified repeating unit into the film. CONSTITUTION:The specified region of the surface of a polyimide contg. a structural unit shown by formula I is irradiated with light to provide a part having a different orientational property of the liq. crystal molecule. In the fomula I, A is the tetravalent residue of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride, R is a bivalent org. group, and A and/or R have a siloxane structure. The polyimide may have a structural unit shown by the formula I and further a structural unit shown by formula II. In the formula II, B and R' are the tetravalent residue of the tetracarboxylic dianhydride other than A and R, and a bivalent org. group. 0.1-100mol%, especially 1-100mol%, of the structural unit shown by the formula I is preferably incorporated into the polyimide.
