PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a building structural material having both advantages of steel product and timber and useful for the earth environment by providing a shaft-like core member consisting of steel product, a wooden member adhered to the circumference thereof so as to cover it, and providing a joint part of a prescribed length consisting of only the core member on the end part thereof. SOLUTION: This building structural member 1 is formed of a core member 2 consisting of steel product and a wooden member 3 adhered to the circumference of the steel product through an adhesive 4 so as to cover it. The wooden member 3 is worked into a prescribed form or prescribed thickness. The core member 2 is covered with the wooden member 3 so as to shield all the essential part 2a of the core member 2 except both end parts. Both the end parts not covered with the wooden member 3 are joint parts 21 consisting of only the core member 2. The wooden member 3 is partially cut out so as to closely fit to the essential part 2a over the whole surface. According to this, a building structural member having both advantages of steel product and timber can be realized.
