PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the soft ground by constructing vertical drain materials placed in the ground to be improved at a specified interval of soluble material which is dissolved through the contact with a dissolving agent, and dissolving it if necessary. SOLUTION: A synthetic resin net 12 is formed by erecting a flat plate shaped synthetic resin wire materials 12b orthogonal to a flat plate shape synthetic resin wire materials 12a similar thereto, and connecting them at their cross points. The net 12 is covered with nonwoven cloth 13 to keep air passages for preventing generation of clogging, and thereby a soluble vertical drain materials 11 are formed. In this case, the net 12 and the cloth 13 are dissolved at a time by bringing the net 12 into contact with caustic soda. By placing the materials 11 into the ground to be improved, the verical drainage column can be constructed. The water and air contained in the ground to be improved between the columns are sucked up onto the ground to be improved through the drainage passage of the materials 11, thereby improving the ground. With this method, the management of work period can be performed surely.
