The protective device comprises a soft material nose insert (10) with two insert funnels (11) for the nostrils . The smaller inner ends fit in the nostrils and the larger outer ends (111) are connected together by a bridging strip (12) and contain a filter (20). The outer ends of the insert funnels have a concave contour matching the shape of the nostrils. The filters are made of activated carbon and also match the shape of the outer ends of the funnels.
