The invention relates to solid, oblong dosage forms (10) comprising a longitudinal axis (11) and a length (L) defined by the projection of the ends (12, 13) of the dosage form on the longitudinal axis. A cross-sectional area (14, 15, 16) oriented in a vertical manner in relation to the longitudinal axis (11) comprises a surface measure which varies along said longitudinal axis (11). The surface measure increases toward both ends (12, 13) in an essentially continuous manner from a cross-sectional area (15), said cross-sectional area being located between the ends (12, 13) and having a minimal surface measure, up to a respective cross-sectional area (14 or 16) having a maximum surface measure. The inventive dosage forms are characterized in that the distance of the maximum cross-sectional area (14), said cross-sectional area (14) being located in the vicinity of one end (12), from the maximum cross-sectional area (16), said cross-sectional area (16) being located in the vicinity of the other end (13), is greater than half the length (L) of the dosage form (10) in a projection on the longitudinal axis (11).
