A magnetic tape cassette holding case (1) which comprises a holding section (3) for holding a magnetic tape cassette (81), a lid section (5) covering the holding section (3), and a connecting section (7) openably and closably connecting the holding section (3) with lid section (5), wherein the holding section (3) and lid section (5) have flat plates (11, 21) and side walls (13, 23) disposed on the outer periphery of the flat plates (11, 21). The end of the side wall (23) of the lid section (5) on the side associated with the connecting section (7) is internally formed with a notch (26b) having a height greater than that of the side wall (13) of the holding section (3).
