The objects are allocated both to an application implemented on the device and to a host application (6) running on a host computer. An interface (9) between the host application and the device application is allocated to the objects and includes procedures which can be performed on the attributes assigned to the objects. An extended form of the interface is used which is based on an added serialization item including the serialization of the objects in a format usable by the device. A device of limited resources, such as a smart card is also claimed.
