The heating system has a heating circuit (12) for circulating a fluidic heat transport medium that takes up heat in an internal combustion engine (11) and gives it off in a heat exchanger (13), a circulating pump (14) for the heat transfer medium in the circuit and a controller (15,16) for setting the heating power fed to the heat exchanger. The controller mixes greater or lesser quantities of the heat transport medium from the return (19) to the forward feed (18) to set the temp. of the medium corresp. to the heating power demanded from the heat exchanger, thereby maintaining a constant vol. flow of the medium through the heat exchanger.
