The arrangement has a battery (E0), a motor drive circuit (14) with an input connection connected to the battery and two output connections (M1,M2) connected to the electric motor. The drive circuit contains an H-bridge circuit containing four FETs (Q1-Q4) and resistances (R1-R4), each of whose electrical resistance is higher than that of each FET if the FET has an ON state fault. The resistances are each connected in parallel with at least two FETs and two potential detectors (18,19) detect the potential at two motor input connections.
