An impedance-heated furnace (10) for processing a nonflowable but conveyable material at the processing temperature, comprising an electrically conducting nonrotating shell (12) heated by impedance to a processing temperature. The shell (12) includes an inlet, outlet, and conveyor means (20, 26), which also may be heated by impedance, for conveying the material through the shell (12).
