<p>A common data rate for all of the different services being transmitted via jointly used physical channels is always known to the receiver, regardless of the momentary combination of transport formats. According to the invention, this fact is exploited for the purpose of reducing the in-band-signalling capacity needed. The common data rate is produced from a preceding resource allocation (number of spread codes and/or time slots, spread factor, etc.) by so-called 'blind detection' by the receiving end (determination of the data rate or the spread factor) during detection or by receiving-end identification of the resources momentarily in use within the pool of allocated resources. The common data rate that is determined is an implicitly available piece of information for the combination of transport formats since only certain combinations are possible for a given common data rate. The invention is applied in UMTS mobile radiotelephone systems.</p> |
