A frame comprising horizontal angle bars 1 supported, so that their upper edges are slightly above the upper surface of bricks in a course of bricks being laid in a wall, by cross-bars 3, 6 forms a shallow trough in which cement is placed on which bricks for the next course are laid, the frame being removed after the bricks are laid to ensure accurate alignment of the bricks. The bar 6 rests on the last brick 10 laid or a temporary support at the end of the course and is welded to two uprights 4 at the ends of the members 1. Handles are formed by extensions 9, 7.
