<p>An apparatus for electrodischarge machining comprises an electrode mount (42) for holding a tool electrode; a quill (41) for holding the electrode mount on the bottom and capable of moving in vertical directions; at least two linear motor rotors (43, 44) attached to the quill symmetrically with the axis of the quill; at least two linear motor stators (31, 32) opposed to the two rotors; and a counterbalance (6) acting against the weight of the quill. The counterbalance includes an air cylinder (60) arranged coaxially with the quill axis so that the balancing force may coincide with the quill axis. Preferably, the air cylinder is provided in a vertical hole extending along the axis of the quill.</p> |
