The invention relates to a tight-head drum (10) which consists of thermoplastic plastic. Said drum is provided with a handling ring in the vicinity of a top, for acting on a handling element (24). The handling ring is connected to the wall of the barrel by a ring-shaped segment (23). Said ring-shaped segment delimits a groove (22) with a barrel section that extends conically towards the top, and is arranged so that it extends diagonally outwards in such a way as to form an acute angle with the longitudinal axis of the barrel. The invention is characterised in that the lowest part of the groove is located at a distance from the handling ring, below the same.
