The method involves generating a temporary signal (xre) from the modulated signal. The signal takes on a first temporary signal amplitude for amplitudes of the modulated signal (xFSK) lying in a predetermined amplitude range. A second temporary signal amplitude is taken on for amplitudes of the modulated signals lying outside the predetermined amplitude range. A time discrete sequence of sampling values is determined as temporary signals and a sequence of amplitude values xn is determined from the time discrete sequence. The amplitude values correspond to a mean value of at least two consecutive sampling values of the temporary signal. A phase difference signal is generated as demodulated signal yn on the basis on the phase difference occurring between the amplitude values.
