The stowage device has at least one frame insert (4) which fits into a recess (3) in the boot (2) and is attached on the vehicle side by fastening components (7,8). The frame insert has an encircling protective edge overlapping the lining of the boot. The frame insert and recess are interdependent in such a way that the frame insert can be fitted in the recess in two different positions displaced by 180 deg .
