<p>Disclosed is a pipe bend which is configured as a part of the suction tract of an internal combustion engine. The pipe cross sections (13, 11, 12) are smoothed down at their inner side in order to avoid separation of the flow in the interior (16) of said pipe cross sections when the pipe bend is sharply curved. A turbulent flow configuration in the inner contour of the pipe bend can thus be avoided as opposed to a circular cross section (15) having the same surface and the flow losses in the pipe bend are significantly reduced. The invention is particularly useful in a suction system which is configured in such a way that many sharp bends are provided due to lack of space in the engine room of internal combustion engines.</p> |
