The excision instrument and cutter is inserted into a trocar and has a resection knife (7) which has an inner hollow cylindrical body complete with cutter-blade (7a) at its pointed end. A pair of forceps (6) has a clamp (3) for gripping the tissue being cut off. The clamp comprises a movable claw (3b) which opens and closes by means of an opening/closing mechanism (5) and control (5a). The movable claw is joined to a fixed claw (3a) possessing a chopping-block (2). The resection knife fits through an elongated passage (4) in the fixed claw.
