A pin (10) for a two piece type fastener includes a flexible member (24) attached to a free end (26) of the pin. The flexible member has a diameter slightly larger than a bore in a workpiece through which it is inserted so that the pin is retained in the bore after insertion. The flexible member also cleans debris from the bore as the pin is installed in the bore, thereby reducing the possibility of the debris from fouling the grooves (16, 22) in the pin.
