The storage magazine has the load carriers (T1-T7) supplied in an upper plane (OE) to a vertically descending conveyor system (KE1,KE2) and released in a lower working plane, for stacking onto a lifting table (HT), allowing removal of the load carriers in a second working plane. The conveyor system can be provided by a pair of pivot lever paternoster chains with the load carriers supported between a corresponding pair of pivot levers.
