The supporting element (11) is used where a post (1) and beams (2) join. It engages the post and beam grooves (5,7) using strips (6,8) and forms the bearing (23) for a block (14). The support forms a T-shape with two arms (12) joined at right angles and fixed respectively to the post and beam by screws (16). Support and side strips are covered by pressure strips which are screwed to the post and beam, separate from the support screws, right through the support and the strips so as to exert pressure on the plate (9) seals (18,19). In a variant, the support comes as a crosspiece having four arms.
