JUMP CONTROL METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically set a jump period and a jump distance for maximizing electric discharge machining efficiency. SOLUTION: In this electric discharge machine, a workpiece 2 is electrically discharge machined by applying pulse voltage across poles of an electrode 1 and the workpiece 2, also the electrode 1 decides whether machining is in an electric discharge machining process or in a jump action process when jump action is performed in the electrode 1 in accordance with jump requirement. When the electric discharge machining process is decided, a number of effective electric discharge pulses is counted in each prescribed sampling period, and the timing commanding jump requirement is decided to be based on the number of the effective electric discharge pulses in each counted sampling period.
