PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an epoxy resin composition which can develop flexibility when cured by using a vinyl polymer having an epoxy group at a terminal of the main chain. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 0.1-1,000 pts.wt. vinyl polymer (A) having a group represented by formula I at a terminal of the main chain and having a number-average molecular weight of 1,000-100,000 and a molecular weight distribution of below 1.8, 100 pts.wt. epoxy resin (B) such as a glycidyl ether type epoxy resin, and, in addition, an epoxy resin curing agent and a filler such as silica. Polymer A is obtained by effecting the living radical polymerization of a vinyl monomer such as ethyl (meth)acrylate, reacting the reaction mixture with a compound having a reactive functional group and an ethylenic unsaturation, such as 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, at the end point of the polymerization to form a vinyl polymer having the reactive functional group at a terminal of the main chain, and reacting this polymer with a compound represented by formula II. In the formulae, R1 to R5 are each H, a 1-10C monovalent hydrocarbon group, or the like; and X is chlorine, bromine, or iodine.
