PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive paper sheet inspecting and classifying device which can perform a check before dispatch of direct mail or the like at a high speed, and surely. SOLUTION: A feed part 1 into which mails are fed is provided. And, above the feed part 1, a classifying part 2 consisting of thirty-three classifying boxes in total is provided. And, beside the classifying part 2, three removing boxes 3 in total in which the mail removed by the classification is accumulated are provided. Furthermore, beside the removing boxes 3, an operating part 4 on which switches for operating the device are arranged and an indicating part 5 on which the state and the like of the device are indicated are provided. And, on the rear side of the feed part 1, a read-out part in which bar codes of the mail are read and a conveying part for conveying the mail are provided. Furthermore, a data base in which data of plural pieces of the mail are recorded is provided as a recording part. And, furthermore, on the rear side of the operating part 4 and the indicating part 5, a control part for controlling these is provided.
