PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a conical cutter regardless of wearing thereof, so as to automatically perform work in high work accuracy. SOLUTION: The external peripheral surface of a vitrified grinding wheel 16 is automatically worked in a prescribed shape by operating a moving mechanism 22 in accordance with an NC data while rotatingly driving the vitrified grinding wheel 16 at a prescribed rotational speed so as to move conical cutters 12, 14 along a prescribed moving route. A cutting blade position is detected by making a cutting blade of the conical cutters 12, 14 abut to a limit switch arranged in a reference position, and the NC data is corrected based on a moving amount of the moving mechanism 22 at this detection time. In this way, deterioration of work accuracy caused by wearing of the conical cutters 12, 14 is prevented, and work is performed in high work accuracy regardless of wearing of the conical cutters 12, 14.
