The circuit breaker has a cover that is in part or completely transparent. On tripping, the breaker is illuminated from within. Input terminals (1-3) are connected to output terminals (4-6) until the overload or earth leakage detector (10) trips the latch (9). This then closes the switch (11) to illuminate the lamp (12) or, better still, electroluminescent foil.
