<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching system that transfers network traffic to a desired destination of the network such as telephone network or computer network. SOLUTION: This network-switching system 34 includes plural ports and uses look-up tables 40, 49, including a look-up key to decide to which port network traffic is to be transferred. Then the look-up tables 40, 49 are occupied, based on the use by the switching system 34. As a result, the look-up table on a different port includes a different address. By storing on by the look-up table of each port, the table is specific to a characteristic of the port. Moreover, an aging method is applied to both the source address and the destination address in the look-up tables and the an entry whose storage period expires is deleted and the memory capacity can be saved.</p> |
