PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which can reduce also power consumption when the power of the luminous intensity of a light beam to be projected is lowered with respect to a light crystal projector device. SOLUTION: Reflection mirrors 2a, 2b and 2c are arranged for lamps 1a, 1b and 1c such as the metal halide lamps whose power consumption and luminous intensity power are different so as to form light sources generating the light beam. Then, the liquid crystal projector device projecting and displaying a picture by irradiating a liquid crystal panel and the like with the light beam is constituted. Besides, the part of the light sources is provided with a light source switching means switching the light sources whose power consumption and the luminous intensity power are different. When the luminous intensity power (luminous flux) of the projecting light beam is lowered according to peripheral brightness or the size of a screen picture to be projected, the power consumption of the light sources can be also reduced.
