PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation in hydrolysis resistance of a resin in a a flame-retardant resin composition and reduce the amount of a highly toxic phosphine gas generated during the mixing and kenading under heating by incorporating a nonhalogen phosphoramide, as a flame retrardant, into the resin composition. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition contains at least one phosphoramide selected from among compounds represented by formulas I and II as the effective ingredient. In the formulas, R1 and R2 are each independently H, alkyl, cyclohexyl, allyl, phenyl, or aralkyl provided they may combine with each other to form a residue for forming, together with an N atom, a morpholino group. Based on 100 pts.wt. synthetic resin, this phosphoramide is compounded usually in an amount of 1-40 pts.wt., preferably 5-30 pts.wt. Diphenyl(amide) phosphate, (diamido)phenyl phosphate, etc., are listed as the compounds of formulas I and II.
