PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acidic hair dye composition extremely excellent in hair dyeing capability and shampoo fastness, and capable of easily removing the dyestuff on a skin. SOLUTION: This acidic hair dye composition contains the following components and is pH 2.0-4.5. (A) An acidic dyestuff. (B) One kind, or two or more kinds of an organic solvent selected from an aromatic alcohol, an N-alkylpyrrolidone and a lower alkylene carbonate. (C) A nonionic surfactant. (D) A glycolic acid.
