PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide organic compound excellent for an organic layer of an organic electroluminescent element. SOLUTION: In an organic electroluminescent element formed on a substrate 10 and provided with one or plural organic layers 20 held between a pair of electrodes 12, 14, benzopyracridone derivative is used for material of the organic layers, that is material for organic light emitting layers, doping material to the organic light emitting layers, or material for hole injection layers. The benzopyracridone derivative is chemically stable, and it has a high light emitting efficiency. By composing the organic electroluminescent element using this material, therefore, the element of a high brightness, a long life, and a high reliability can be provided.
