PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing apparatus for an optical disk system. SOLUTION: An A/D converter 21 in which an RF signal to be input is sampled so as to be output is contained. An adder 22 in which the sampled signal and an asymmetric correction signal are added so as to output an addition signal is contained. A blank/defect detection part 24 in which, when a change in data is not detected from the addition signal during a prescribed time, a blank detection signal indicating this is generated is contained. A correction- signal generation part 25 which receives the addition signal so as to calculate a DSV, which generates an asymmetric correction signal on the basis of the calculated DSV and which outputs the generated asymmetric correction signal to the adder is contained, A waveform equalizer 26 which waveform-equalizes the addition signal so as to be output is contained, A decoder 29 which decodes the waveform-equalized signal so as to be output is contained. When the blank detection signal is applied, a correction-signal generation means temporarily stops a DSV calculating operation with reference to the section of the corresponding addition signal.
